About 100% Renewable Communities Program

100% Renewable Communities Program is part of the Central Victoria Solar City project and will be administered by Sustainable Regional Australia (SRA).

100% Renewable Communities Program  involves projects where SRA partners with passionate and committed regional Australian communities to collectively reduce energy consumption and own a renewable energy asset. We are currently working with three regional communities – Renewable Newstead, Renewable Kyabram and Renewable Murchison.

The model is delivered in six incremental stages. The model is structured to be flexible to achieve community goals and outcomes, and communities may wish to achieve part of the model.

SRA partnership benefits include facilitation and mentoring; access to intellectual property of 100% Renewable Communities model; support in community engagement,  marketing and research; energy assessment training and employment; assistance in company formation, capital raising and solar park infrastructure building;  and access to SRA established networks and opportunities across business, government and community.

Community actions and outcomes may include energy literacy; enhanced capital and capacity building; improved governance; collective reduction in energy consumption; local employment; energy independence and security; tailor made community enterprise; eco-tourism;  and establishment of community-owned renewable energy asset.

The 100% Renewable Communities project in your community provides an avenue to bring the community together to achieve a collective result and make your community a better place to live, creating community pride. Each stage of the model provides activities that benefit your community. Completing the whole model would provide widespread social, economic and environmental benefits.
