Community CentresCommunity buildings in each of the 14 municipalities participating in the Central Victoria Solar City Project have recently received an energy efficiency audit which analysed each building’s total daily energy consumption, including energy used by heating, cooling and general appliances. The energy audits recommended building infrastructure changes such as upgrades to more efficient lighting and machinery, more energy efficient window coverings and awnings, the installation of ceiling and wall insulation and other activities that could reduce energy use. Real time energy efficiency monitoring systems have also been installed onsite, allowing Council staff in each municipality to find energy saving opportunities. It is also allowing locals to see how much electricity the buildings consume in real time and provide information on greenhouse gas savings.
