Business Energy Assessment

Central Victoria Solar City Business Energy Assessments are helping small businesses reduce costs by showing them how to lower their energy consumption. Small business costs are rising and energy costs are rising too. Most businesses could use a lot less energy. Experience shows that even low or no-cost actions can help reduce energy consumption and produce quick returns. Increased energy efficiency can contribute to the financial sustainability of your business.

AM I ELIGIBLE?

Your business must be within one of the 14 municipalities participating in the Central Victoria Solar City research trial, you must pay your own electricity bills and your business must not be involved in manufacturing or primary production, or be focused on food production or storage (small scale food handling businesses are eligible).  If your business has any specialised electrical equipment please let the assessor know beforehand as this equipment may be excluded from the assessment. Your business must be grid connected to the Powercor Distribution Electrical Network and the electricity meter must be easily accessible for reading. The main decision maker in the business will need to be present.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

BEFORE THE ASSESSMENT

• Receive – Your Business Energy Assessment booklet and survey.
• Complete – Fill out the survey up until you reach the stop sign. Read the booklet before your assessment.

DURING THE ASSESSMENT

• Learn – Work with your local assessor to learn simple behaviour and infrastructure changes that you can make to help reduce energy consumption in your business.
• Finalise – Finish the remainder of your survey with your assessor and provide the signed participation agreement.

AFTER THE ASSESSMENT

• Pay $250 plus GST – An invoice for $250 plus GST will be sent to you for the cost of the assessment.
• Implement – Implement the changes that will help you reduce your energy consumption.
• Benefit – Enjoy the benefits of the changes you have made.
• Follow-up – University of Ballarat will conduct a follow-up survey in 12-months time to measure the ongoing benefits of the assessment and the changes made.
